Types of weaving silver chains and bracelets

[ad_1]

Even in ancient times, silver was valued as a sacred material, which was considered a symbol of the purity of the family. He was credited with the ability to heal from ailments and protect from evil spirits and misfortunes. Adhering to the ancient traditions of jewelry, artisans made silver chains and bracelets, in which links alternate with amulets, and sets with handmade crosses. Thanks to the jewelry craftsmanship, chains of different types and weaves have become real masterpieces. Modern jewelry designers offer a variety of chain models for men and women — long and short, thin and massive. They can become an independent accessory, complement an elegant pendant or a bright pendant.

According to the manufacturing technology, weaving is flat, embossed and figured.

By way of execution:

  • machine — stamped chain weaves are assembled on a special machine from separate blanks. They twist easily and are considered not very strong;
  • manual — the most reliable weaving of silver chains. The craftsman does a long laborious job, cutting the silver wire, forming links from it, and then connecting them. Such products do not stick to clothes.

Many types of silver jewelry can be made exclusively by hand. Classic chains — anchor. They have straight links connected perpendicularly, and oval or round ones are attached in the center of the partition. When they go into each other several pieces at once, it is called a cord.

According to the density of links, fashionable weaving of silver chains is double and triple cords. A thong chain, depending on the thickness, can become a self-sufficient decoration for a man or a woman, creating a harmonious set with a pendant matched to the style.

Another type of anchor weaving is called “Venetian”. It consists of thin and flat anchors, looks very elegant. Distinguish between straight and twisted Venetian technique.

Silver weaving of bracelets, necklaces and chains, when small elements inside large ones are placed in the same plane, is called “shell”. By the number of connections, it is also single, double or triple. One of the types of such products is a rhombus shell. This is a pretty solid option. A more refined version of the shell is Singaporean weaving, which consists of curved elements. In the female version, it is called “nonna” and includes large and small rounded links.

How to choose chains and bracelets for men

The most popular — men’s weaving of silver bracelets and chains — the alternation of long and short links of blackened and white silver, is called “figaro”.

The traditional Bismarck is especially popular among high-status politicians and businessmen. It is characterized by a dense arrangement of spiral elements in relation to each other. Ideal for men with a medium to tight athletic build. Its varieties:

  • royal knit, often called Byzantine or fox tail. This weaving is used in the manual production of chains with an openwork composition, consisting of links of the same type, directed in one direction. They produce a classic, round, semicircular and fox tail with an oval or square section;
  • Moscow;
  • cardinal;
  • python, or Italian weaving, is used in the manufacture of both men’s and women’s handmade chains. Women’s variations — abination and glamor — have a less dense structure. To obtain the effect of massiveness, jewelers use two-strand weaving.

The most unusual chain weaving

There are types of fantastic weaving techniques using unusual link geometry, alternating parts of different shapes and shades of silver that do not belong to any group of weaves to any type of weave.

The sunburst technique creates shiny thin and sharp links resembling needles.

The options inspired by Asian exoticism look original. In the Shanghai and Beijing traditions, elements decorated with Chinese or Japanese characters alternate. The wanqing technique uses a combination of links in the form of rings of different sizes and coffee beans.

An innovative way of weaving is embodied in the flat necklaces of Montreal and Paris. They consist of three separate thin metal chains of different colors.

The serpentine structure resembles a smooth textile cord. The flat tape surface of the links may have an oval, round or rectangular section.

Weaving, which is called “perlin”, which translates as pearls, resembles a necklace, consisting of spherical, cylindrical, smooth or faceted elements. It is so self-sufficient that it does not require suspension.

Wearing voluminous fantasy models requires a sense of proportion. This is the main condition under which they will look good in both casual and elegant style.

Men are advised to give preference to large chains with a simple design. For girls — thin and medium thickness openwork models. They visually rejuvenate, give the face freshness. Ladies of mature age fit long necklaces with fancy weaving, decorated with pendants. Short chains can be worn with any outfit except hoodies and turtleneck sweaters. Products of medium length up to 45 cm, up to chest level, are designed for the neckline. Very long, from 75 cm, should be worn over clothing without a cutout. A large pendant or cross will not look nice on a thin chain. A harmonious set of a bracelet worn on the hand and a chain around the neck must be selected so that it is made using the same weaving technique.
